Now when we come to the Europe and Middle East. If we talk about Mesopotamia, by approximately 4,000 years ago, jewelry-making had become a significant craft in cities of Sumer and Akkad. Jewellery was made from thin metal leaf and was set with large number of brightly-colored stones in Mesopotamia. Then talking about the Greeks, they started using gold and gems in jewellery in 1600 BC. By 300 BC, the Greeks were mastered in making colored jewelry and using amethysts, pearl and emeralds. Greeks generally don't wore jewellery it was mostly used for public appearances or on some special occasions. Although jewellery work was abundantly diverse in earlier times, when the Romans conquered the most of Europe, jewellery was changed as smaller factions developed the Roman designs.
